Ojie the Honeybee is a hardcover picture book for families who want a gentle, age-appropriate way to talk about plant-based medicine at home.

It follows a young honeybee whose family cares for their community by delivering essential oils in their honey. Her hive is overworked and starving for a remedy — but the ingredient she needs sits across a river, guarded by territorial hornets, and Ojie has to outthink them to bring it home.

Read one way it is an allegory about prohibition, unintended consequences, and who gets access to healing. Read at bedtime it is a story about a small bee doing a brave thing for the people she loves. Both readings are the point.
